Tips To Make Bath Time Fun For Babies

baby-bath-time-tipsBath time is an important thing in every baby’s life, but if it’s not inherently fun, it can quickly become a chore. Luckily for you — the parent — this doesn’t need to be so! As with many things, it’s mostly a matter of presentation. If the baby detects a high level of enthusiasm in you, the excitement will spread!

In order to foster the enthusiasm in your child, here are a couple of practical games to play in the bath:

– Play some fun music in the background. Use your best judgment and pick something that’s calm and not overly stimulating.

– Sparkle the kid’s imagination! Pretend you’re on a flagship or a boat. Things will get interesting pretty quickly.

– Bring out the toys! What fun is taking a bath without a rubber duckie in it? Or perhaps some plastic buckets, so the baby can splash the water around. Maybe a fishing net. As long as the item seems interesting to the child, anything goes.

– Spice things up with bubbles and foam! Plain water is just too boring and dull. But if they can play with the bubbles, no single child has ever remained disappointed. And they can make funny shapes out of the foam, or even pretend they’ve started to grow a beard!

– If your kid doesn’t enjoy the process of shampooing, there’s an easy solution to the problem. Take the foam and make a funny hairstyle out of it! Laugh it up and let it show how much you enjoy the process. When the kid looks at himself in the mirror, you can bet you’re not the only one who’s going to be laughing!

– Bath time is the perfect opportunity to teach the little one about body parts. But don’t turn it into a boring anatomy lesson. Browse the internet and find some interesting songs written exactly for such an occasion! Point to each specific body part when you sing along.

– Does your kid know how to write yet? Then why not draw his or her name into the foam? It’s not only fun, it’s good practice as well if your kid does the same!

– If you feel there’s never enough time for food, good news! You can combine the feeding time and the bath time, making it all into a single process. The baby can make as much mess as it wants to, because everything’s going to get washed away shortly thereafter!

– It’s a good idea to strengthen the baby’s motor skills. A rubber ball is a perfect addition to every bath. You can come up with some creative games to play, or simply play catch. Just make sure the ball is not too heavy, so the water won’t splash around like crazy.

By now you’ve surely filled your head with many new and exciting ways to motivate your baby. After you get the little one to enjoy the bathing process, you can use it for relaxation purposes every day before going to bed. To increase the effect, you could also mix some essential oils into the water. Little dosages go a long way.

But most importantly, don’t rush things along! Getting your child to enjoy taking a bath is a long process. But if you take it step by step, trying out a new game or toy every time, something’s just bound to work over time.

You are absolutely right! You cannot rush bath time. If you do, the little one might just hate the water and not want to take a bath the next time. I usually spare some time for my little one’s bath. I consider it one of our very many bonding moments.

The thing about making bath time fun is that it takes up so much time. I only shower for a few minutes. But each time I give my 5-month old son a bath, it takes hours! I wish I was still a kid 🙂
